NEW BLOG

10 Apr

I somehow deleted my really old post that directed people to my new blog.

Here is the link.

Go there. It is rad. :D

12 Oct

I’m switching blogging sites.

WordPress feels too dead to me and all the artists are hitting up everything on other sites.

It’s peer pressure really LOL.

Everyone on swap-bot also uses blogger or whatever…I was a bit pissed when I wasn’t allowed to join a blog swap because I have a wordpress account. Trying something new is always good I suppose.

Part 2 Handmade Belt

1 Oct

For a long time I have been really obsessed with belts, especially those with pyramid studs. I have fed this obsession by buying belt after belt after belt after belt, even though they all looked the same I still bought them. Now that I have so many I can’t find any interesting ones that would be worth getting because I basically already have them all. I wanted a floral one and I kept googling and I could never find one. So I though about just making one in hopes I would figure it out.

First off I drew up what I wanted because I work well when I have a visual of something first.

Then I shopped around at Hobby Lobby for the most desirable fabric to use and I was excited when I found what I wanted. I ordered a few belts off the internet because even with shipping, it is still a hell of a lot cheaper than a store bought belt. I even bought the pyramid studs off the internet, because just as I had imagined, the studs in the belt that I bought were of shitty plastic.

Getting rid of the crappy plastic studs

I spray painted the metal studs I had bought, I used two different colors to achieve the vintage, old-feel I was going for. I was really thrilled when they came out exactly how I wanted them too.

Putting fabric on and sewing it to the belt was the easy part, re-assembling all the parts I took out of it was the first hard part I had went though. I had to figure out how to actually get things to stay and be permanent so they wouldn’t fall out later on.

Putting the metal studs in the old holes of the belt was the hardest part and actually took a long time, it is too hard to get the studs to stay straight and fit exactly right.

I am satisfied that my first belt turned out the way it did, I hope to make a lot of improvements on my next one.

The next one I am making is a rabbit belt. It is kind of wonderland inspired I suppose, I will post it as soon as I am done. I’m currently figuring out how to make a lot of different things that I can not find on the internet or anywhere else.

I have entered an art show literally called Recycled Art Show. I plan on entering a 2-d project.

My idea is just making a collage out of plastic bags while covering two issues: plastic bags and our Ocean Wildlife.

Plastic bags are ruining our environment, I literally fucking hate them. If you want you can search anything about plastic bags and find all sorts of negative results.

I have drawn up what I want my collage to be of, and I have taken an approach toward Ocean Wildlife as a result from watching The Cove in my English class. I hope to have a very controversial piece in the show because I plan on making it a bit on the gore side.

Part 1

1 Oct

I have been pretty busy with school and life and have not been able to write all about dumb things in my blog for awhile.

Last week I went to watch Bill Nye give a presentation in Terre Haute, I don’t know about you, but science intrigues me and Bill Nye could literally break down everything and make it easier for you to understand with all the drawn out terms. He is exactly how I pictured him to be in real life, fucking awesome.

I spontaneously hit up Body Art Ink because I like Tom, the piercer there, a lot. I actually enjoy this shop above others because they are a lot more friendly than a lot of others I have been into. I have had both sides of my nostrils re-pierced by him so many times, I think maybe 6 in all now. I wanted to have both pierced again because it is the only piercings I actually don’t find to be too out there.

We also randomly went into an Art Museum that I had no idea was even there. I’m not really into American Art that much but I did find a few paintings I adored. I think Luke might be an art critic in the future because all he did was babble in front of certain works.

After all of this I wanted to take photos of my sister, mostly for stock photos but I just went ahead and used the same grunge texture on both photos because I fucking like it.

I went to Joe and Kristine’s Wedding later on in the evening. I am sad that Kristine is all the way up in New York because I enjoyed hanging out with her.

Life is good.

Good Stuff.

17 Sep

This is going to be a LONG entry.

For starters today I received an ATC in the mail from an Owl themed swap. It was an amazing ATC to acquire because the artist put a lot of work into it. I have no idea how to embroider and thats what makes it more interesting to me. I seriously love it and it is one of my new favorite handmade items. She has a blog as well…

(The handmade ATC she made for me, isn’t it freaking adorable!?)

Anyways I like finding amazing items for cheap because I am never loaded with cash, usually just change. I have an obsession with jewelry at the moment, which is also a new thing. I have no idea what sparked my interest but I am HIGHLY addicted. I found a lot of neat things a few weeks ago under four dollars in all. This was during Old Fashion Days in North Salem.

Besides the owl necklace, the rest of the jewelry found is resting on an amazing floral suit case that was only one dollar. I love Victorian, Amethyst, Goddess, Pearls, kind of jewelry.

The rest in this box I plan on swapping with others on Swap-bot because I really do not want them. I also would like to swap knitted scarves with other members, once my rating goes up a lot to where I can actually host a swap, that will be one of the first ones I will make.

If you know what ATC’s, altered journals, altered postcards, altered greeting cards ETC. are you probably have a bunch of random craft items lying around. I have just random ass things that I probably won’t even use but I really need to think up of something to do with everything before I end up on Hoarders.

Rachael showed me a site with some great tutorials on it, which makes me want to screen print my own shit. Now THAT would be fun.

I need to hurry up and buy some gold pyramid studs already, I want the half-inch ones instead of the stupid 8mm ones. I really want to make my own belt. I have talked about it too many times and I am going to do it. I have searched and searched and searched in stores online, in the real world etc. and I can never find the studded belt I am looking for.

Studded clothing and accessories have been in style for decades. Sometimes people overdo it and it looks a bit tacky but a studded belt always looks neat to me…once I get tired with one color of studs I move onto a different color.

This is what I want it to look like, I would like to buy a fancy belt buckle, preferably in the Art Nouveau style.

I usually have to doodle up what I want to make because I need a visual example of it.

Art is where everything begins… buildings, homes, your clothing, movies, electronics, etc.

Colors!

15 Sep

I just want to point out that I love pastel colors. Pastels in art are a fun medium to work with, blending is a lot of fun to me. I love pale colors not only because they are elegant in appearance but because I love their soft effects. Pastel colors are great for everything, clothing, makeup, artwork, jewelry, home decor, etc. When I go around viewing different artwork I always get attracted to the piece that is done with pastels. A lot of clothing that girls/women tend to wear now is covered with floral designs that are done in these sort of colors.

Anyways…I created my own concoction of face cleaner. Everything I have ever bought has either made my skin too oily, too dry, or I would just break out here and there. Then all of those problems would make putting on makeup absolutely retarded looking.

I like experimenting with products so I mixed 2 of  my face lotions, cut up some facial wipes, and put some flower petals in my spray bottle (just for shits and gigs)…and my face is 100% amazing at the moment. I like to only wear light foundation on my face because I hate the way any of it feels on my face.

The photo below is only on a Polaroid Curve (because I admire it damn it) which is the only edit. You can click on it to magnify it if you just love to see someone else’s’ blemishes. My face has been glowing it seems like all day…

S0rry to ramble on like that but I have always had an addiction to facial cleansers…
